Bolsa Chica Service Day
4th Saturday of every month. 9am to 12pm. Work with the enthusiastic staff to help restore the natural habitat of Bolsa Chica. Remove trash and non-native plant species all the while enjoying a beautiful day in the sun. Summer Speaker Series
BASIC NEEDS (Food, Water, Shelter, Clothing) at The Ecology Center. Join us for an evening of conversation, 6:30-9PM, wine, beer, and light fare. How do the choices we make to satisfy our basic needs for food, water, shelter, and clothing impact the health of our communities and our environment? To foster dialogue around some of today’s most pressing - and most tangible - environmental issues. The purpose of the series is to provide a foundation for making decisions that have a positive ecological impact. This is a forum where the residents of Orange County can explore these crucial topics with cutting-edge thinkers from a variety of backgrounds. Speakers:

4th Saturday of Every month. 11am to 2pm. Join the Surfrider Foundation for their monthly Beach Cleanup! This is a fun and easy way to volunteer for the Surfrider Foundation's local Chapter. They are always looking for volunteers to help at the booth as well as participate in the clean up. For all beach cleanups, please wear comfortable clothes, closed toed shoes and sunscreen. We provide the gloves, bags, hand sanitizer and other essentials for cleaning up trash. Location: 1st Street & Ocean Ave. Seal Beach. Shipley Nature Center presents The Magic of Composting informative lectures on Vermicomposting (composting food scraps with worms) and Backyard Composting (traditional composting with yard waste and other organics). Learn how easily you can transform your kitchen scraps and backyard cuttings into rich compost for your plants and gardens. Location: Shipley Nature Center 17851 Goldenwest St. Two different lectures are available: Vermiculture from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and Traditional Backyard Composting from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Choose one lecture for $10.00 or attend both lectures for $15.00. Green Expo/ Green Image Awards
The California Landscape Contractors Association Los Angeles/San Gabriel Chapter, (CLCA), in conjunction with BeverlyHillsPeople.com is hosting an interactive community "Green Expo" at the historic Greystone Mansion,
905 Loma Vista Drive Beverly Hills.
12:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The Green Expo will be an educational experience for California residents and business owners. The Green Expo will be an outreach opportunity to network information, learn sustainable living techniques and support the California water crisis. The Green Expo will also showcase celebrities who support the Green Movement. Sheryl Crow has agreed to personally receive one of the CLCA’s first “Green Image Awards” at the expo. The California Native Plant Society in conjunction with the Theodore Payne Foundation will host "Green" family events at the expo.
