Shipley Nature Center Restoration Days
The Friends of Shipley Nature Center will be planting, weeding and cleaning up, and they need your assistance. On the first Saturday of the month, the public can tour Shipley Nature Center at 11 a.m., in addition to the clean up activities that begin at 9 a.m. and go till noon. Location: Central Park West, near Breakfast in the Park or on 17829 Golden West Street, between Slater and Central Library Drive, Huntington Beach, CA. Cost: Free. Wilbur The Wizard Worm
The Shipley Nature Center presents Working With Vermiculture to turn kitchen resources/waste into rich compost for your yard. Alan Piercy of Enrecos/VermiPro will lead a demonstration of the process. 10am to 12 noon. Seminar cost is only $10 per participant, and the City will rebate the registration fee toward the purchase of worm compositing kit. Huntington Beach residents who participate in the workshop will be able to purchase a complete worm composting starter kit for only $49 - a substantial discount from the $125 retail price. This special pricing is made possible by the City of Huntington Beach Public Works Department through a grant from the County of Orange Integrated Waste Management Dept.
